EPDM and fibreglass flat roofs in Peterborough
We are based at Costessey near Norwich and reach Peterborough via the A1(M), about 20 miles from Huntingdon. That matters for flat roofing & epdm: it decides how quickly we can inspect, how we get materials on site, and how we sequence work on city terraces and township estates.

Specification options
- Torch-on felt systems
- Multi-layer bitumen for larger or awkward flats where a robust, easily repairable finish is the practical choice.
- Falls and firrings
- Firring pieces set the fall so water leaves the roof rather than sitting on it.
- EPDM rubber membrane
- One-piece rubber for extensions, dormers and garages — no field seams, and it copes well with movement.
- Warm-deck insulation build-ups
- Insulation above the deck keeps the structure warm and reduces condensation risk compared with old cold-deck details.
Flat Roofing & EPDM FAQs
- Can you overlay the existing felt?
- Only if the deck below is dry and sound, and we'll lift a section to check. Overlaying a soft deck buys a year or two and costs the whole job again.
- How long should a new flat roof last?
- A well-installed EPDM or GRP roof on a sound, correctly falling deck should give decades of service. What kills flat roofs early is ponding water, poor upstands and being laid over a wet deck — all avoidable.
- Do you insulate at the same time?
- We can build a warm deck with insulation above the structure, which usually makes sense if the roof is coming off anyway and the room below is cold or prone to condensation.
- EPDM, fibreglass or felt — which should we choose?
- It depends on the deck, the traffic it takes and the budget. EPDM suits most extensions and garages, GRP suits balconies and anything walked on, and felt still makes sense on larger or awkward outbuildings. We'll set out the options at inspection.
- Do we need permission from Peterborough City Council?
- Most like-for-like roof work doesn't need consent, but listed buildings and conservation areas can. If your property looks like it falls into that, we'll say so at inspection so it's dealt with before work starts.
Why customers in Peterborough call us
Domestic and commercial
From a single slipped tile to Fengate industrial area, quoted on the same basis.
System-appropriate guarantees
Flat roof systems carry manufacturer material guarantees; we tell you which applies rather than implying a blanket one.
Detailing shown before install
Upstands, trims and outlet positions agreed with you before anything is bonded down.
Getting a quote
We will lift a section of the existing roof before pricing. Laying new EPDM or fibreglass over a wet deck is the cheap answer that costs twice. Neighbours in Ramsey and Huntingdon get the same service, and the written quote is yours to keep and compare.
