EPDM and fibreglass flat roofs in Taverham

Taverham sits about 6 miles from Norwich, reached off the A1067, and that position shapes the flat roofing & epdm we do here. Most of our the NR8 postcode district jobs involve large modern estates with concrete tiles and integral garages, so we plan access, scaffold and materials around that before quoting. We know the streets around Taverham Mill Fishery well, and Taverham Garden Centre is a useful marker when we arrange access.

Common roof problems around Taverham

Large modern estates with concrete tile roofs.

  • Shared valleys and party walls

Terraced streets in Taverham share valleys and parapets, so a leak often starts next door. We inspect both slopes before quoting.

  • Access near Ringland Hills

Scaffold, unloading and parking around Ringland Hills are agreed before the van arrives, so nothing on your side of the road is blocked longer than it needs to be.

  • Extensions, porches and garages

Small flat roofs on extensions and garages are a large share of local work and are often quoted with the main roof.

  • Rear-addition and outrigger roofs

The back additions on large modern estates with concrete tiles carry awkward little roofs that are frequently the actual source of a leak in the Broadland District Council stock.

Firrings, outlet positions and upstand heights are agreed before the membrane arrives.

  3. Membrane installation

EPDM, GRP or felt installed with trims and upstands dressed properly at every edge.

  4. Water test and handover

Outlets checked under flow, edges walked, and the finished roof handed over with the system details.

Flat Roofing & EPDM FAQs

Is the roof walkable?
GRP takes foot traffic and suits balconies and terraces. EPDM is fine for maintenance access but isn't intended as a walking surface — if you need a usable deck, say so and we'll specify accordingly.
Can you overlay the existing felt?
Only if the deck below is dry and sound, and we'll lift a section to check. Overlaying a soft deck buys a year or two and costs the whole job again.
Why does water sit on our flat roof after rain?
Insufficient fall, a sagging deck or a blocked outlet. On Taverham extensions it's usually falls that were never set properly. We reset falls with firrings rather than lay new membrane over the same puddle.
EPDM, fibreglass or felt — which should we choose?
It depends on the deck, the traffic it takes and the budget. EPDM suits most extensions and garages, GRP suits balconies and anything walked on, and felt still makes sense on larger or awkward outbuildings. We'll set out the options at inspection.
Do you cover the streets near Taverham Mill Fishery?
Yes — Taverham Mill Fishery and everything around it is inside our normal round, as is Taverham Garden Centre. There is no separate call-out charge for that side of Taverham, and the inspection is free wherever the property sits.

EPDM for most extensions and garages, GRP where the surface gets walked on, felt where the roof is large or awkward — set out with the trade-offs at the free inspection. Ask for the Taverham inspection slot that suits you; we are often over at Costessey the same week.
